I know it's only been one week (barely) but in just this little time, I'm feeling so much better. Can you imagine how much better I will feel in a month.. two months.. six months? Amazing. My head (brain) is thinking so clearly. It's crazy. It seems if I encounter an obstacle or issue, I have the energy and know-how to solve or remedy it - almost immediately. Is this your experience as well?
I have found my time with Healthnix useful in regards to the two telephone appointments with my dietician. She has provided thoughtful, tailored guidance to help reach my goal of losing weight and improve my health whilst living with arthritis, without completely cutting out the foods I enjoy. She has a good knowledge of food and nutrition, and was able to suggest lots of new foods and dishes I could eat to help me lose weight by improving my diet. She also provided information about foods to avoid or cut back on because they can trigger inflammation or are generally unhealthy. I'm grateful for her expertise and support.
I had my 1 hour meeting with my dietitian, and she was excellent. She gave me many practical suggestions that were easy to implement and have already helped with my sleep and digestion.
I'm just over two weeks into my Healthnix journey, and I'm genuinely over the moon to finally be on a nutrition path that doesn't feel toxic or restrictive. I've tried just about every diet under the sun, none of them stuck, and most took a toll on my mental health because of how limiting they were. Working with Healthnix has been the complete opposite. The sign-up process, getting my labs done, and my first call with my RD all felt effortless. What really stood out was how collaborative and realistic the approach was, my RD helped me find healthier alternatives to the foods I love instead of cutting them out completely. They even helped me choose better options from restaurant menus! Two weeks in, I already feel less fatigued, I no longer need that midday nap, and the bloating I used to deal with is practically gone. All wins in my book!
My whole eating and food world has been turned upside down! I wish I had done this sooner. Although I thought I was a good eater, as I don't eat out much or do fast foods, I had no idea until I started taking pictures how much I was eating and how healthy it can be. So my grocery list is altered to include fruits which I hardly ate and more veggies and protein daily. Going to the grocery store is interesting as I am trying to stay organic with everything I buy. I am feeling more energetic daily and I am never hungry. I started weight training exercises last week and do cardio treadmill 15" daily during the week. I will build up to more exercise weekly. Also - I've invested in two titanium pots for cleaner eating. So my kitchen items are transforming. Even at my age, I want to live healthier and feel better. I was becoming dormant and spiraling downward as many of my age group have. I've also realized that we really are what we eat! A good diet lends itself to less medications and letting my body heal itself. Glad I am doing this... it's a healthy style of eating and living for life.
I was lucky enough to have two 1 hr consultations with my dietitian regarding dietary issues. I benefitted from some very good nutritional advice to aid with weight loss, cholesterol control and have subsequently introduced some new items into my diet to further enhance these aims. Although my diet was acknowledged as being good overall, she helped me with some fine tuning that I'm sure will benefit me in the long term. I feel I learnt some valuable things from her and found her to be very professional, thorough and a pleasure to talk with. I do feel my energy levels, which were very poor due to constant pain or at best severe discomfort, have started to improve. I suffer from arthritis in my entire spine and knees and although the prognosis is one of further degeneration I'm hoping my dietary adjustments may help slow the process and I know that I will be avoiding foods that can contribute to increased inflammatory problems.
I first had a conversation with my dietitian about 9 weeks ago. I had just found out I had osteoarthritis and was in constant pain and feeling quite despondent. She spoke to me about what I hoped to achieve, I said I would like to be healthier, to not be in constant pain and to hopefully slow down the symptoms of arthritis. We spoke about what food I was eating, likes/dislikes. She then went through how I could make positive changes to my diet. I have taken on board everything she said, I love my breakfast of yoghurt fruit and muesli every morning. I have cut out almost all ultra processed foods. I have lost 4.4lb already really easily, as I don't really get hungry anymore. My pain has reduced enormously due to the changes in my diet. I had a thorough blood test at the start of the programme, this showed cholesterol was high and thyroid levels were high. I'm getting these retested in a couple of weeks by my GP and I am hoping that the changes I have made will show these levels to be at a more normal level. I can't thank her enough for giving me the confidence I needed to make these changes.
I've been sticking to the eating plan since my call with my dietitian on 29th July and have lost 13lb in weight so far.
